Activities

The beaches are everywhere :) Plettenberg Bay has 7 spectacular beaches. We recommend to check out at least 2-3 and if you love the sea: Visit them all or come again ...and again and again! We are a prime beach destination! The most popular beaches are only 2 minutes away by car. Due to our location 90m above sea-level we recommend to use a car to drive to our world class beaches. Parking is free.

We overlook ever-changing Lookout Beach and the entire the Keurbooms Lagoon from our Rooms 1, 2, 6 and 7 and our breakfast deck. We highly recommend to spend time at the Lagoon and walk to the river mouth. You mustn't forget to search for your very own pansy shell in Plett.

Welcome to Holiday Mekka Plettenberg Bay in the heart of the Garden Route! There is a galore of activities to explore and many secret spots for relaxation to chose from in Plett.

World class Beaches, Hikes, Sports facilities and many Nature Reserves and Animal Rehabilitation Areas. Plett is your perfect destination to explore the Garden Route. Robberg Nature Reserve, Nature's Valley, Salt River Lagoon, Knysna, Noetzie and Tsitsikamma National Park are all a must visit when you are staying at La Vista Lodge.

Coffee Shops, Bars, Cafés and our many Boutique Stores are great for a relaxing holiday. Plett together with Knysna has everything you need.

Plettenberg Bay is the perfect year-round destination as each season offers its own unique charm.

The spring and summer seasons bring longer, warmer days to bask in the sun with a chilled glass of wine or cocktail from our Bar in hand or you could dine on our Deck under the stars. Mid October until End of March are perfect for summer days by the beach and warm evenings. The waters of the indian ocean are much warmer than in Cape Town.

If you’re more captivated by milder weather, end of autumn (April - May) and early Spring (September - October) is a lovely time of year as the days are not as hot and Plettenberg Bay offers pure tranquility and calm days excellent for outdoor activities.

If drinking red wine next to a log fire is your cup of tea (yes, it’s ours too), winter (July - August) is your best bet. The surrounding mountains often show their incredible silhouettes in all romantic colors in winter, turning Plett into a cosy wonderland for couples. It´s also the best time for whale watching and the most affordable time.

Temperatures in South African can easily reach mid twenties on any sunny winter Day with little to no wind but a quick passing cold front can add a lot of beauty to our bay-view of 140km coastline when the fight of sun and clouds is mirrored in the lagoon and ocean.

Food and Restaurants

We are not directly within walking distance to one particular Restaurant but we are still close to most Restaurants within a really short distance of less than 2km or only a few minutes by car such as Lookout Deck, The Table, Fat Fish, Barrington´s, Le Fournil de Plett Bakery and many more. TripAdvisor lists us close to 20 Restaurants within less than 2km as the crow flies. We do get guests that prefer to walk to Restaurants and enjoy the scenery but most of our guests ask us to call a taxi in advance or take their own car.

With easy access to the National Road (N2) Restaurants just outside town are only 10 minutes away either such as Emily Moon, Enrico´s or Zinzi.

We do offer three and four-course dinners on prior arrangement. Our meals are prepared with love and produce of our very own permaculture food forest garden and any special requirements we take as a challenge. Return to the healthy side of life.

We started our 7 year project in September 2019 to transform the natural slope on the sunny north side of the property into a permaculture food forest. We aim for oversupply of locally grown food.

We brought in 26 qm of wood chips and 16qm of compost to build soil and plant food. We would love to give you a tour of the area just below our pool. Over time more and more food comes from our garden. Since the start of the pandemic we focused on producing all kinds of vegetables, herbs and fruits and are more and more connected within a lovely community of Epic Gardeners (Kevin Espiritu) Gangsta Gardeners (Ron Finley) or the one and only James Prigioni who inspired us to grow food at our wild forest.

Our aim is to inspire many more establishments to grow their own food in South African Hospitality.

Plett is 99% frost free which allows us to grow a lot more than expected. You can´t buy any healthier food than what is grown in your garden.

General

We aren´t really far from anything in Plettenberg Bay. You can see the town literally growing like mad around us every year from your breakfast table. The town is still expanding from one hill and valley to another. We are quite centrally located within Plettenberg Bay in one of the most sought-after residential home area of classic Plettenberg Bay.

Far enough from the busy streets to enjoy a peaceful stay. From a birds eye view You can see Market Square Shopping Center and the Plettenberg Mall from La Vista Lodge. Main Street with it´s Boutique Shops and the Plettenberg Market isn´t really far either. Most Shops are only a few minutes away by car or a 15-20 minutes scenic walk.

Again with easy access via the National Road N2 Saturday Harkerville Market and the Old Nick Wednesday Midweek Market are also within easy reach by car and well worth a visit.
